Job Introduction
The BBC is renowned for making compelling TV and radio. To make that happen, the Media Services team provides a fleet of high-performing cloud microservices. As our newest Tester, you’ll help us keep things running smoothly as we add new features or renew and streamline our estate.
Interview Process
There will be two interview stages, focusing on technical aptitude and soft skills.
Main Responsibilities
A typical day would include a variety of tasks, such as:
* Making a test plan by researching and exploring current functionality.
* Using Postman and the AWS console to set up tests.
* Composing clear and concise test scenarios in Gherkin language.
* Implementing those scenarios in our Java automation framework.
* Doing ad-hoc or exploratory testing on a Jira task.
* Analysing system outputs using tools like Splunk and DynamoDB.
* Investigating test failures to establish what went wrong.
* Writing a bug report in Jira.
* Retesting fixes and sorting out problems with the test environment.
Are you the right candidate?
You must have strong Java coding skills and know your way around AWS, including EC2, S3, SQS/SNS, IAM and Lambda. Your testing mindset and attitude are important: being methodical and thorough are essential. We’re looking for a natural problem solver and logical thinker.
