Role Description
A hybrid position combining responsibilities of a BI Engineer, Data Engineer and Business Analyst. You will be responsible for designing and building data pipelines, creating insightful reports and dashboards and collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions. This is an exciting role for someone looking to grow their skillset and make a meaningful impact on our organisation’s data and technical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI and SAP Business Objects.
2. Analyse complex datasets to uncover trends, insights and actionable recommendations.
3. Ensure correct governance and security of BI tools and data assets.
4. Implement data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness at every stage of the data lifecycle.
5. Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to collect, transform and store data from multiple sources.
6. Ensure data accuracy, consistency and reliability across the entire organisation.
7. Optimise data pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency across on-premise or cloud environments.
8. Design and build self-healing mechanisms to detect and resolve errors and outages automatically.
Business Analysis
1. Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document data requirements.
2. Translate business needs into technical specifications for data solutions.
3. Provide insights to support strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
4. Participate in cross-departmental projects, offering expertise in data integration and data analysis.
Skill Requirements - Educational
1. Proficiency in T-SQL for data manipulation and querying.
2. Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
3. Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and tools such as Azure Data Factory, Informatica or similar.
4. Proficient in data modelling and database design.
5. Experience with core data concepts such as Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
6. Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
7. Experience with programming languages such as Python, R and VBA.
8. Knowledge of agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps and JIRA.
9. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
