About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Service - HR, Workforce Planning & OD. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of our HR and workforce planning strategies, ensuring that we have a talented and diverse workforce that is equipped to deliver our corporate ambitions.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead the management and development of our HR, Workforce Planning, OD, EDI & Safeguarding, Health and Safety at Work, Wellbeing, HRIS & Payroll services.
* Provide strategic and operational support to the HR, Workforce Planning & OD service, ensuring that we have a collaborative approach to leadership at operational level.
* Work with local political leadership to ensure that elected members' will is expressed and understood by Council officers, and is implemented within the constraints of appropriate probity, legality and the agreed financial envelope.
* Develop an organisational culture that is open to, and curious of, innovation, continuous improvement and the development of new models of service delivery and ways of working.
* Lead, promote and challenge an inclusive culture both within the service and across the wider council, with a particular focus on our safeguarding responsibilities and role as a corporate parent.
Key Skills and Experience
* Proven experience of leading and managing HR and workforce planning functions in a large and complex organisation.
* Strong strategic and operational leadership skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective HR and workforce planning strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering customer-centric services.
* Knowledge of HR and workforce planning best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective way.
