The ideal candidate will work as a member of the ETP operations team, responsible for taking process samples, performing laboratory tests, and analysing, interpreting, and reporting results. Develop skills, knowledge, and experience to occasionally operate the effluent plant, including Anaerobic digestion, as needed.
Role: ETP Process Tester
Pay: £13.50 per hour, £20.25 per hour for overtime on weekdays and weekend
Location: DS Smith Paper Ltd - Kemsley Mill, Kemsley Mill, Sittingbourne, Kent. ME10 2TD
Job Type: Contractual, Initially for 6 months with possibilities of extension
Shift Hours: 6am to 2pm, Rotational, 4 days on, 4 off (including rotating weekends)

Experience:
1. Hold a full driver's license.
2. Laboratory/analytical experience is essential. Preferable experience in laboratory environment and industrial water/effluent treatment.
3. High degree of self-motivation and determination to succeed, capable of working independently in all weather conditions and darkness, especially in winter.
4. Physically able to lift samples (up to 15kg) and carry samples some distance.
5. Support daily ETP operations, following procedures, and complying with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
6. Knowledge of wastewater treatment process layout and sample point locations.
7. Ability to perform all required laboratory tests and maintain up-to-date process data and records.
8. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental systems and procedures, maintaining good housekeeping throughout the laboratory and plant.
Responsibilities:
1. Collect and prepare samples from the wastewater treatment plant for various laboratory tests, analyse results, and report findings to the operations team.
2. Develop knowledge to support plant operations.
3. Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to company safety procedures, using PPE and gas monitoring equipment, and assisting with risk assessments and incident reporting.
4. Comply with environmental management systems, report potential hazards, assist with investigations, and work to reduce the plant's environmental impact.
5. Support optimal water and waste processes, contribute improvement ideas, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
