Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Kitchen Manager at Toby Carvery Newbury. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, maintaining food quality, overseeing food & beverage operations, and managing culinary aspects of the kitchen.

A Kitchen Manager at Toby Carvery is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operation, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation of the signature roast dinners, managing kitchen staff, maintaining food safety standards, controlling inventory, and collaborating with the restaurant management team to deliver excellent customer service, all while adhering to Toby Carvery's specific standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Staff Management:
* Lead and motivate the kitchen team, including chefs, kitchen assistants, and dishwashers.
* Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities based on staff skills and workload.
* Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and training to staff.
* Schedule shifts to ensure adequate kitchen coverage during peak hours.
1. Food Preparation and Quality Control:
* Oversee the preparation of all dishes, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
* Monitor food quality and consistency, including proper cooking temperatures and presentation.
* Implement proper food handling and safety procedures to maintain hygiene standards.
* Regularly taste test dishes to identify areas for improvement.
2. Inventory Management:
* Manage food stock levels by ordering supplies and maintaining proper inventory rotation.
* Monitor food costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
* Conduct regular stock checks and address any discrepancies.
* Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
* Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
3. Customer Service:
* Ensure timely delivery of food orders to meet customer expectations.
* Address any customer concerns related to food quality or service promptly.
* Foster a positive and customer-centric attitude within the kitchen team.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager in a high-volume restaurant environment, ideally with a focus on roast dinners.
* Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
* Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other departments.
* Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
