Bank position, working with two small teams to provide a service for Mortuary and Pathology Stores.
Providing a comprehensive Mortuary Service for Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and to Pathology Stores to provide requisites for the Laboratories and wider Health Community.
Main duties of the job
Pathology Stores: The role involves picking and packing goods ready to send out to our users that include GP surgeries, hospital wards, and laboratory areas. Taking deliveries to the various departments within the pathology department. You may be asked to do stock takes and place orders.
Mortuary: The role involves liaising with health care professionals, bereavement team, funeral directors, and porters to provide a service to the Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who can work across both sites of Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucester Royal Hospital, who is physically fit as you will be required to do a lot of manual handling (within Manual Handling guidelines) and someone who is willing to work in both Mortuary and Pathology Stores.
The ideal candidate should have good communication skills, computer skills that include Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to work both in a team and independently. Knowledge of relevant health and safety procedures, manual handling, infection control policies, and a good attention to detail is essential.
Full training will be provided.
Job responsibilities
The role includes sourcing, receiving, and distribution of stock for the Laboratories and the wider Health Community to enable timely analysis of patient specimens (Pathology Stores) and booking in and releasing patients in our care (Mortuary).
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Basic Education, GCSEs in IT, Science, Mathematics, and written English
Experience
* Experience of common IT Software
* Working in Health Care or a similar environment
* Previous NHS experience
* Previous experience working in a warehouse/Stores environment
* Ability to work with deceased individuals
* Knowledge about the Human Tissue Act
Knowledge
* Able to prioritise tasks and organise a busy workload
* Able to work at both sites, Cheltenham and Gloucester
* Available to work during term time and school holidays
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Knowledge of Manual Handling
* Knowledge of Health and Safety
* Good communication skills
