We are looking for a talented all-rounded Sous Chef that is driven, enthusiastic, flexible, and has a passion for food. You can benefit from being part of a small and dynamic team and are encouraged for your input when writing menus and specials.
The position is a great opportunity for a Sous Chef looking for a good work-life balance or a Chef de Partie looking to take a step up and have an influence on the menu and the kitchen. The ideal candidate will be strong on the stove and confident with pastry work, enjoy working within a small team, and have at least 4 years of experience.
We serve a diverse range of dishes focusing on seasonal and local produce, serving high-quality dishes. It is a positive work environment, and we are seeking a skilled and creative Chef to join our team.
The business operates across 4 days, Wednesday to Saturday, and is closed for 3 days, Sunday – Tuesday, which guarantees 3 days off.
We are closed for a week over the festive period, giving you Christmas and Boxing Day off. We re-open for Hogmanay and then shut again for 1-2 weeks in January. This allows us all time to relax and enjoy the festive period after a busy spell.
The position is salaried and is competitive for the position and in line with the industry average.
Responsibilities
1. Assisting the Head Chef in creating the menu and running the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
2. Assisting the Head Chef to maintain a high level of hygiene across the whole kitchen and all food areas.
3. Completing due diligence paperwork on a daily basis and being comfortable with the HACCP system that is in place.
Experience
1. Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
2. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
3. Basic knowledge and comfort with pastry work.
4. Ability to run a service in the absence of the Head Chef.
