AWE is looking for a qualified electrical engineer to work as a Training Manager in our award-winning apprentice academy. The role would be responsible for inspiring and leading our apprentices to a successful electrical career.
Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area
Salary: £45,250 - £50,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must be a qualified electrician with experience in electrical maintenance and installation holding at least a BTEC / City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.
Within this role you will:
1. Optimise, organise, develop and deliver skills and underpinning knowledge training for allocated apprentices including the review and maintenance of course files, syllabi, and schemes of work
2. Have or be willing to obtain teacher and assessor status and maintain it via continued professional development activity
3. Work as part of the Skills Academy team to ensure that defined company and national contracted requirements for development are met
4. Assure, assess and/or instruct apprentices skills, knowledge and behaviours, including during work-based learning
5. Line manage apprentices including company performance management process and identify and address development needs and assessment using recognised company and academy processes
6. Lead a team of approx. 12 direct reports
Candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
1. Proven presentation skills
2. Good communication skills, both written and verbal to be understood by a range of audiences, from new apprentices to senior management within AWE
3. Good influencing skills to ensure the appropriate learning opportunities and development of individuals
4. Extensive experience in an engineering environment (engineers only)

As part of this role you must:
1. Undertake and pass a CRB check
2. Have the ability and affinity for working with a diverse range of people and grades across the business particularly young people
3. Have the ability to attend off-site events (e.g. meetings, conferences, residential courses, etc.) which may include short periods away from home including overnight stays
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
