Sous Chef
We are currently looking to recruit a sous chef to join our busy kitchen team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Head Chef and senior sous chef directly, key roles will be to:
1. Deputise for the head chef or senior sous chef in their absence.
2. Assist in the day-to-day running of the kitchen & its team, ensuring that every dish is prepared, cooked, and presented impeccably each time.
3. Prepare food from daily changing specials menus.
4. Ensure preparation, production, and service of food to the standard required in a timely and efficient manner.
5. Practice and promote effective teamwork and communication amongst your direct work colleagues and colleagues in other departments.
6. Train less experienced members of the kitchen team.
7. Contribute towards menu planning.
8. Ensure compliance with in-house HACCP and food hygiene, health, and safety systems.
9. Complete duties with an attitude of always striving to exceed standards to promote improvements and raise the quality of feedback from all guests.
10. Maintain the day-to-day operational standards of the kitchen.
As a candidate, we expect from you:
1. Several years of experience as a sous chef, or higher level, in a comparable venue.
2. Passionate about food, flavours, seasonality & provenance.
3. Good timekeeping and flexibility with respect to the hours you can work.
4. Ability to train, manage, and inspire a team.
The business: The Park Hotel is a well-renowned restaurant within Thurso, providing great quality meals year-round. Whether something simple like fish and chips, or that little bit more special dish, we aim for every customer to have a positive experience when dining or staying with us. Serving upwards of 100 covers per day, this is a fast-paced work environment but also a very rewarding one. Salary of £33K - £37K per year dependent on experience.
