Kitchen Manager – 4 days per week
Term time only plus 4 cleaning days
28 hours per week (Monday - Thursday) 7am – 2.30pm
Grade 5 (SCP7-11) - £24,294 - £25,979 FTE
Actual Salary - £15,373 – £16,440
(A request for the role to cover 5 days / 35 hours per week will be considered)
We are looking for a Kitchen Manager who can lead a small team of catering assistants to provide a high-quality catering service for our pupils and cater for up to 300 children. You must have substantial experience in catering, preferably in an education setting but this is not essential. Your role will include but is not limited to:
• Prepare half termly menus (3-week cycle) offering suitable choice and vegetarian options
• Prepare and cook meals, following correct recipes and methods.
• Follow food safety management system.
• Be responsible for health & safety on site.
• Ensure that the servery and dining room are correctly set up for service.
• Serve meals and supervise the service.
• Supervise and instruct kitchen staff – ensure safe systems of work adhered to.
• Encourage the development of staff and identify training needs required.
• Carry out on the job training of staff.
• Carry out equipment training of staff.
• Inspire, motivate staff and encourage team work.
• Carry out food stock takes.
• Order commodities and ensure that deliveries are received, checked and stored correctly.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels and correct stock control.
• Monitor supplier performance and report any problems to the Trust Catering Manager.
• Undertake the cleaning of the equipment and kitchen, following the cleaning schedule / COSHH guidelines.
• Carry out all administration, records and documentation as required.
You Will:
• Have Level 3 Food Safety award or willing to work towards
• Be able to comply with legislation relating to Health and Hygiene
• Be flexible and willing to assist with other duties as instructed by the School Business Manager or Trust Catering Manager
• Be willing to attend training
