Walford Timber is a leading UK manufacturer with 80 years of heritage. Based in the Wye Valley, we sell through 3 branches, including the Walford branch where this role is based.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Sales Executive to join our team. This office-based role is crucial to identifying and securing new business opportunities, building and nurturing relationships with trade and retail customers, and driving sales growth. You will also help grow existing customer accounts and work alongside our branch sales team. Reporting to the Business Development Manager you will be a key player in driving business expansion and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify and Target New Customers: Proactively research, seek out and develop new business relationships with trade installers, contractors, and commercial users.
2. Account Management: Build, maintain, and grow existing customer accounts to drive repeat business and upsell products.
3. Lead Generation & Prospecting: Identify potential new clients, generate leads, and convert them into sales opportunities.
4. Appointment Setting: Schedule meetings and calls for the Business Development Manager with prospective clients to understand their needs, present product solutions, and close deals.
5. Trade Counter Service: Helping customers, processing transactions and enquiries, and providing product knowledge.
6. Sales Reporting: Report monthly to the Business Development Manager on sales performance, new leads, and business development activities.
7. Product Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of Walford Timber’s products and services to effectively communicate features, benefits, and industry expertise to customers.
8. Customer Relationship Management: Maintain and update the branch's CRM system with details of all client interactions and sales progress.
9. Market & Competitor Awareness: Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to help refine sales strategies.
Skills & Experience:
1. Proven experience in a sales role, preferably within the timber, construction, or building materials industry.
2. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
3. Ability to work independently, identify opportunities, and close deals.
4. Experience managing client relationships and driving account growth.
5. Highly organized with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
6. Ability to work well within a team and assist in different areas when necessary.
7. Familiarity with CRM systems and sales reporting.
8. Familiarity with basic Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as some experience of ERP / POS systems.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of fencing products, timber, or outdoor construction materials.
2. Experience working with trade installers or within the construction industry.
