An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Data and Analytics Team, at Northern Care Alliance, for a Senior Data Engineer to help migrate the current on-premises solution to a cloud-based solution in Azure.
The Data and Analytics Team has recently undergone a period of natural growth and progression which has resulted in the opportunity for two Senior Data Engineers to join the existing Data Platform Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that is looking to be one of the first hospitals in the country to have a complete Cloud Based Data Warehouse Solution.
The Data and Analytics Team is not only transitioning to a state-of-the-art Azure data platform, we are also implementing an agile multi-disciplinary, product-focused approach to delivering cutting-edge insights, data science, and visualizations to the organization.
Main duties of the job
* You will be working within a team leading in the specification, development, and implementation of a Hybrid on-premise and Azure cloud Data warehouse and reporting platform.
* Work closely with members of the Data & Analytics Team to proactively develop/improve the trusts Data Warehouse platform/function into a highly efficient architecture.
* Ensure you are proactive rather than reactive when there are issues within the data warehouse to be fixed in a timely manner & documented for future references. Comprehensive knowledge of Data Engineering products such as SSIS, SSRS, SQL to help triage and signpost solutions to customers, and potential issues to internal teams.
* Work closely with Senior Data Engineering Manager and team to identify risks and rectify them before they become an issue, particularly those that have a detrimental impact on patients, service users, and Data Platforms reputation.
* Manage/Support the day-to-day operations of the trusts data warehouse solution both on-prem & MS Azure to ensure they are kept running without any errors through our BAU requests portal, dealing incidents & change through our Agile (Scrum) process, liaising with third-party vendors, internal & external teams to ensure business continuity.
* Design, implement, support, and continually improve the new Microsoft Azure based Data Warehouse, from bringing in new systems through to staging, data warehouse and reporting layer using the Kimball methodology within Data Factory/Pipeline process.

Qualifications
Essential
* Degree in related technical or informatics related field, or equivalent experience as Data Warehousing Developer or Business Intelligence Developer.
* Evidence of relevant continued professional development in both technical specialist SQL Data Warehouse disciplines.
* Relevant technical skills qualifications backed up with accredited professional certification. Microsoft certification in SQL Server, MS Azure.
Desirable
* Leadership Qualifications Project Management Qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum etc.)
Knowledge
Essential
* Advanced Experience/knowledge of Azure infrastructure or other cloud computing platforms including data factory and ETL processes/synapse.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (Indexes, Performance tuning & query optimization, complex Stored procedures/views/functions).
* Knowledge of dimensional/fact modeling methodologies and appropriate application of different techniques (Kimball).
* Knowledge of supporting & developing Microsoft Azure ETL pipeline solutions, triggers, connections/data lake, data bricks, power apps/automate.
Desirable
* Knowledge & experience in working within an Agile (Scrum) environment/framework.

* Significant experience of supporting & developing (on-prem) data warehouse environments using Microsoft stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
