Abacus Employment are recruiting for a sous chef based in the Windsor Area. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation. This position requires a passion for culinary arts, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.
Duties
1. Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen.
2. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
3. Oversee food preparation processes to maintain quality and consistency in dishes.
4. Ensure that all food safety regulations are adhered to, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
5. Help develop new menu items and improve existing recipes based on seasonal ingredients and customer feedback.
6. Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, good safety practices, and kitchen procedures.
7. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock.
Requirements
1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
2. Strong culinary skills with a solid understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
3. Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment.
4. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for kitchen hygiene.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with others, fostering a positive team atmosphere.
6. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and preparation.
