Job Description: Senior Sous Chef

Salary: £38,000 per annum
Responsibilities:
* Assist the Head Chef in the management of kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
* Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, ensuring high culinary standards and efficient workflow.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and execute new menu items, focusing on seasonal and local ingredients.
* Maintain kitchen inventory, ordering supplies as needed, and ensuring proper storage and stock rotation.
* Oversee health and safety regulations within the kitchen, ensuring compliance with food hygiene standards.
* Conduct regular kitchen clean-ups and maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and tools.
* Assist in the training of new staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
* Participate in menu planning and event planning to enhance guest experiences.
* Monitor food quality and ensure dishes are prepared and served to the highest standards.
Essential Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 2 or higher in Professional Cookery or relevant culinary qualifications.
* Proven experience in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen setting.
* Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation processes.
* Understanding of food costing and inventory management.
* Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
Desired Experience:
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in a sous chef or senior kitchen role.
* Experience in a fine dining or upscale hospitality environment is preferred.
* Ability to innovate and bring creative flair to menu offerings.
* Experience managing kitchen staff and training new chefs.
