Castleford Park Junior Academy is part of the Castleford Academy Trust. We provide a dedicated team of professionals to deliver the best education for over two hundred 7 - 11 year old pupils for the Castleford community. Kitchen Manager – 4 days per week
Term time only plus 4 cleaning days
28 hours per week (Monday - Thursday) 7am – 2.30pm
Grade 5 (SCP7-11) - £24,294 - £25,979 FTE
Actual Salary - £15,797 – £16,892
We are looking for a Kitchen Manager who can lead a small catering team to cater for up to 300 children.
You must have substantial experience in catering, preferably in an education setting but this is not essential. Your role will include but is not limited to:
• Open kitchen and turn on / light required equipment.
• Prepare and cook meals, following correct recipes and methods.
• Prepare half termly menus (3 week cycle) offering suitable choice and vegetarian options
• Follow food safety management system.
• Be responsible for health & safety on site.
• Ensure that the servery and dining room are correctly set up for service.
• Serve meals and supervise the service.
• Organise staff and plan the kitchen routine.
• Supervise and instruct kitchen staff – ensure safe systems of work adhered to.
• Encourage the development of staff and identify training needs required.
• Carry out on the job training of staff.
• Carry out equipment training of staff.
• Inspire, motivate staff and encourage team work.
• Identify and solve problems.
• Carry out food stock takes.
• Order commodities and ensure that deliveries are received, checked and stored correctly.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels and correct stock control.
• Monitor supplier performance and report any problems to the Business Manager.
• Undertake the cleaning of the equipment and kitchen, following the cleaning schedule / COSHH guidelines.
• Carry out all administration, records and documentation as required.
• Manage the safe use of kitchen equipment.
• Report for repair any breakdown or major damage.
• Carry out the final security check of the kitchen.
• Take part in themed events as required.
• Ensure promotional material is presented correctly, as attractively as possible and is updated as required
• Ensure that information from the Business Manager is passed to staff and that staff concerns, criticisms and suggestions are formally passed to the Business Manager.
