A Senior Data Engineer at DVSA is responsible for designing and implementing complex data architectures and pipelines. You'll create robust ETL processes, enhancing data flow and reliability across our systems.
Your expertise in database technologies and API development will drive our transition to more scalable and efficient data platforms.
You'll spearhead initiatives to improve data quality and accessibility, enabling advanced analytics and informed decision-making.
As a technical leader, you'll mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a data-driven culture and innovative data solutions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Senior Data Engineer develops service capabilities and the adoption of frameworks for better operational practice. Supports development of Data Ops capabilities and supporting individual’s professional growth.
* Integrates and separates data feeds to map, produce, transform, and test new data products. Establishes enterprise-scale data integration procedures across the data development lifecycle and ensures that teams adhere to these.
* Able to listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret between them. Able to manage stakeholders’ expectations and be flexible, is capable of proactive and reactive communication. Facilitates difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
* Develops fit for purpose. Resilient, scalable, and future proof data services to meet user needs and has a demonstrable understanding of how to expose data from systems (e.g. through APIs) link data from multiple systems and deliver streaming services.
* Execute management responsibilities effectively, working with, leading and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues, ensuring capabilities to achieve successful delivery of business performance whilst maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial resources delegated in line with the Civil Service values.
