Requirements and Qualifications: Experience : Proven experience in a chef role, preferably within a care home or large-scale catering environment. Experience in leading a kitchen team is essential. Qualifications : Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent). Food Safety Certification : Understanding of food hygiene regulations and a valid food safety certificate. Team Leadership : Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop kitchen staff. Organisation and Efficiency : Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage time and budgets effectively and meet deadlines in a busy kitchen environment. Plan, prepare, and present high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents. Work closely with the nursing home team to ensure that the nutritional needs of residents are met in line with care plans. Oversee food stock control, ordering, and food rotation to minimize waste and maintain budgeted food costs. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, COSHH, and Health and Safety at Work requirements. Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Take responsibility for menu planning and development, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and seasonal changes. Handle stocktaking and ensure the kitchen maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization. Lead by example to ensure the kitchen meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and service.
