Job Title: Training Manager
About the Role:
WorldSkills UK is a charity and partnership between employers, education, and governments. We use international best practice to raise standards in apprenticeships and technical education. Our goal is to empower young people from all backgrounds through competition-based training and skills development.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced trainer to lead a world-class training programme. This programme will prepare students and apprentices for the upcoming WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, September 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promoting Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion:
o Champion a culture of fairness and integrity.
o Ensure equal access to opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds.
* Setting World-Class Standards:
o Lead the charge in establishing and maintaining world-class standards in the training programme.
o Ensure UK competitors meet and exceed global technical benchmarks at WorldSkills.
* Maximising Budget Impact:
o Work closely with WorldSkills UK to manage a budget.
o Ensure maximum impact from high-quality training.
* Leading Preparation:
o Ensure competitors are well-prepared and positioned to excel at the highest level in international competitions.
o Provide tailored coaching, advanced skills training, and strategic mentorship.
* Coordinating National and Global Networks:
o Coordinate and mobilise support across the UK sector networks.
o Design and implement a high-impact training programme.
* Enhancing the UK's Position:
o Elevate the UK's standing on the global stage.
o Position the UK among the top 10 nations overall.
* Gathering Insights:
o Stay at the forefront of global skills development.
o Analyse the most successful training systems worldwide.
Requirements:
* Expertise in the craft or skill, along with an understanding of industry and educational standards and practices.
* Experience in monitoring performance, including marking and assessment practices.
* Proven ability to challenge and motivate diverse groups of students and apprentices.
* Strong connections within an influential network that can support the planning and delivery of the training programme.
* Capacity to work outside of normal office hours and the flexibility to work away from home.
* Full support from your employer to perform the role and participate in the programme.
* Willingness to travel within the United Kingdom and internationally.
* Ability to balance employment, personal life, and the responsibilities of the Training Manager role.
