Junior Sous Chef
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head Chef, you will be responsible for ensuring all dishes are prepared and presented to a high quality and provide training and guidance to the rest of the kitchen team. You will be a creative individual who can create seasonal menus and design new dishes, as well as completing administrative tasks. You will assist the Head Chef in both culinary and administrative tasks and deputise in their absence.

Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £27,000 per annum

Main Responsibilities:
1. To ensure the food preparation and presentation meets the Head Chef’s standards.
2. Train new and existing kitchen staff on culinary techniques, food safety practices and the preparation, arrangement and plating of dishes.
3. To supervise and motivate the team when required.
4. Contribute to the progression of the team.
5. Provide ideas & suggestions for new menus based on seasonal ingredients and customer demand.
6. To monitor portion control.
7. Receive and check fresh food and dry stores orders.
8. Track and record stock and replenish as required.
9. Be aware of and actively promote savings in both wages and food wastage.
10. To deputise in the absence of the Head Chef.
11. Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
12. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
13. Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers.
14. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other colleagues.
Essential Criteria:
1. Proven experience as Senior CDP or Junior Sous Chef within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
2. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety regulations, and kitchen management practices.
3. Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage a team effectively.
4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
5. A passion for cooking and creating exceptional dining experiences for guests.
6. Level 2 Food Safety.
