Job Description
We are currently searching for a highly qualified and experienced sushi chef to join our restaurants team. As the art of sushi preparation and presentation is so critical to the customer, as well as to the reputation of the restaurant, we are looking for a chef who is meticulous and precise in their approach to creating the customers desires. Our candidates must be thoroughly trained in the Japanese techniques of creating various sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, maki, and other related delicacies and sauces. Minimum of10 years of experience performing in some of the biggest Japanese brand well known around the world.
Responsibilities
Maintaining a high level of quality sushi menu items and customer presentations
Organizing and taking inventory of seafood, produce, and other necessary culinary supplies.
Creating signature items for the restaurant and creatively planning with other chefs and prep staff
Coordinating with the wait staff and hosts/hostesses to create best practices for serving customers.
Training new employees and apprenticing chefs
Communicating with food and materials vendors to manage inventory needs
Necessary Skills & Qualifications
Ability to oversee sushi kitchen operations and plan for necessary changes or adjustments.
Experience creating multiple Japanese and sushi-related cuisine items.
Adept at managing groups of people and delegating orders/jobs
Knowledge of the preparation and presentation of many different types of sushi and seafood
Ability to work long hours on your feet and in sometimes stressful situations.
Meticulous, accurate, and dedicated to producing quality cuisine.
Prior experience or a degree from a culinary institute
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
10+ years experience in a high-quality sushi restaurant
Ability to work alternating shifts, including unexpected coverage on nights and weekends.
Ability to travel for culinary conferences and training.
