PSM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in preparing and cooking food, while ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service. This position is for our client based in Canterbury and is a Contract role until August 2025, offering full-time hours, 37 hours per week.
Hours: 37 per week, typically 5 days per week, between 11.00 am and 7.30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
* As directed by the Head Chef, cook and prepare all menu items to ensure a high standard of food offer.
* Supervise kitchen staff as required, ensuring that all staff work safely and legally.
* Deputise for the Head Chef as required.
* To work with other departments in providing effective service delivery in order to deliver an excellent standard of customer service
* To control wastage of stock to ensure maximum efficiency at all times and to support the delivery of agreed margins
* To respond to standard enquiries in a timely manner, escalating non-standard queries and complaints, to ensure high levels of customer service for both internal and external customers.

* To work in a safe and lawful manner, complying with all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
* Good knowledge of cooking techniques and style.
* Good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations in particular food hygiene and food allergies.
* NVQ Level 2 in professional cookery or equivalent
* Level 2 in Food Safety.
