We support hybrid working here at SelectScience, c 2-days a week in our Corston office (for this reason will are only considering candidate based in the UK, and close proximity to Corston, Bath).
Purpose and Scope
Reporting to the CFO, this is a critical position that will lead on all recruitment and people related matters for Select Science. This is a hands-on role and highly varied role, a department of one. Ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced environment.
Working in partnership with departmental heads the People & Recruitment Manager will advise on all people related matters. From coordinating recruitment including issuing contracts and offer letters, to learning and talent development to more strategic matters.
They will work in close collaboration with the office admin and finance team to ensure a seamless onboarding and offboarding employee experience. They will be the first point of contact for all people matters and enquiries, escalating to the CFO, where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment:
* Works in collaboration with the hiring manager to ensure the requirements are well understood.
* Look at creative ways of filling vacancies direct where possible, taking a responsible, but pragmatic view on when to release roles to agencies.
* Build strong relationships with preferred recruitment agencies, with favourable terms and conditions in place, e.g., payment terms and rates.
* Coordinates the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, booking interviews, supporting line managers with interviewing (when required), advising on selection.
* Ensures that all applications, including agency applicants are routed to the Expr3ss tool (SelectScience’s preferred ATS and psychometrics tool).
HR Operations:
* Administers offer letters and contracts, ensuring these are reviewed and signed before issuing.
* Ensures all employee records are up to date, including contracts of employment, right to work and absence and sickness data.
* Proactively reviews all people policies, updating these in line with HR best practice and employment law.
* Manages sickness absence proactively, monitoring levels and highlighting when action may be required.
* Delivers the People overview as part of the induction for new joiners.
* Works in partnership with the IT helpdesk, finance, admin office and hiring managers to ensure a timely and excellent onboarding and offboarding process.
* Works with the Finance Manager to ensure new joiners and leavers payroll administration is accurate and up to date.
* Leads on all HR administration, such as issuing maternity letters, flexible working requests, probation letters, issuing sickness absence letters, salary and bonus letters etc.
* Conducts exit interviews, recording trends and escalating to the CFO.
* Ensures PeopleHR platform is fully GDPR compliant, limiting admin access.
* Works in collaboration with the CFO and FC to ensure a fair and best practice approach to annual bonus and pay reviews.
* To proactively review all people policies, including employee handbook and processes – updating these in line with HR best practice and employment law.
* Oversees health & safety.
HR Advisory:
* A trusted advisor to key stakeholders, providing pragmatic advice in relation to business and people issues.
* Cultivates strong relationships across all levels within the business.
* Works with management to ensure both short term and long talent and succession plans are in place.
* Advises on Employee Relations issues, partnering closely with managers to proactively identify issues, advise on strategies for dispute resolution, and risk mitigation.
* Review training and development requirements, overseeing the delivery of training plans.
* Help managers maximise performance ensuring financial resources are being appropriately invested.
* Working with managers, embed a culture of high performance, excellent customer service and continuous improvement ensuring that managers are equipped with the tools and knowledge to support staff effectively.
* Coach and mentor new managers.
* Proactively contributes to Wellbeing specific business initiatives.
* Advise on changes to employment and related law.
* Support the CFO with any ad-hoc projects as and when required.
Education and Professional Qualification
Essential: 5 years + experience of working in a HR Advisory or Generalist people partner position.
Desirable: Level 3 CIPD qualification, or equivalent.
