Ecosurety are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join our Technology Team. We create digital products and tools which support our customers to comply with data heavy packaging regulations. The Data Engineering team play a fundamental role in delivering the data solutions to support our external customers and internal teams. Youll be joining a team of 3 Data Engineers in total, as part of a wider Technology Team including Product, BI & Data Specialists, Cloud Architects, and the IT function. Reporting into the Head of Products & Services, the role requires a broad set of skills, including designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines, developing data solutions, configuring cloud environments, establishing new processes and adhering to strong Governance amongst the team. We presently work in Azure but are moving more to the Snowflake platform. Job Description The successful candidate will: Support in the design and implement effective database solutions and data models to store and retrieve business data for calculations and BI presentation. Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable data pipelines for ingesting data from various sources (APIs, third-party systems, databases) into our data warehouse. Write complex SQL queries to transform and manipulate data for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence needs. Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and data processing jobs to ensure fast, efficient data workflows. Ensure systems and tools align with business requirements and industry standards. Enhance data quality and efficiency across the business. Optimise data delivery through indexing, query optimization, and continuously refactoring for better stability. Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures. Use Git or Azure DevOps version control tools and collaborate with other team members to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient codebase. Collaborate with Senior Data Engineer and wider Technology Team on bespoke projects. Work with third-party suppliers who support with operational management of databases. Person Specification An experienced data engineering professional with 3 years experience Technical skills: Experienced knowledge of SQL including writing complex queries, stored procedures, optimizing performance, and working with relational databases like Snowflake or SQL Server Experience with building and maintaining ETL data pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory, Matillion or dbt Solid experience with Git for source code management and collaboration in a development environment Familiarity with CI/CD best practices and tools like Azure DevOps to automate data pipeline deployment. Experience with scripting languages like Python, particularly in data engineering tasks like data processing, automation, and integrating with external systems (e.g., APIs, databases). Hands-on experience with Snowflake including data modelling, optimization, and managing cloud-based data warehousing solutions is a plus. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure. Effective communication and adept at adjusting technical depth based on audience needs and comprehension level. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on building efficient, scalable data solutions. Proactively seeks to understand business context before presenting data solutions. Strong grasp of both business fundamentals and data analytics principles. Able to manage multiple complex deliveries and challenge assumptions on delivery. High levels of diligence, maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, architecture and changes made. Ideally have experience working with data within a regulatory environment.
