Head Chef – Care Home
Salary: £35,000
Hours: 40 hours per week (Day Shifts)
A purpose-built, luxury care home in a quiet residential area, providing residential, nursing, respite, and dementia care. The care home strives to create a warm, homely environment where residents thrive, and the culinary team plays a key role in enhancing the lives of residents through exceptional meals.
We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen, overseeing the preparation of delicious, nutritious meals that bring comfort and joy to residents. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef who not only excels in cooking but also thrives in a leadership role. The role involves creating innovative menus, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring meals are of the highest standard in terms of nutrition, taste, and presentation.
What We’re Looking For:
* Catering Experience: At least 2 years of catering experience with a focus on high-quality meal preparation.
* Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead a kitchen team, creating a positive and efficient environment.
* Food Hygiene Knowledge: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willing to complete) and awareness of food safety regulations.
* Creativity: Ability to develop structured yet innovative menus, adding a personal touch to each dish.
* Communication: Confident in liaising with managers and kitchen staff.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently and improve kitchen operations.
* Specialised Knowledge: Experience with therapeutic and textured diets is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
* Culinary Excellence: Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and preferences.
* Menu Innovation: Collaborate with the executive chef and home manager to design seasonal, cost-effective, and nutritious menus.
* Leadership: Supervise and support the kitchen team, ensuring a professional, efficient, and welcoming environment.
* Training & Development: Conduct food hygiene training for care staff involved in food handling, ensuring best practices.
* Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate records of food supplies, manage stock, and monitor fridge/freezer temperatures.
* Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen and dining areas.
* Team Management: Plan kitchen staff rotas, assist with recruitment, and encourage team cohesion.
