Our prestigious client based in the centre of Edinburgh is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead their kitchen team in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This role will begin on a temporary basis; however, it may become permanent for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of food production, ensuring that all dishes meet our client's high standards of quality and presentation. As the Head Chef, the role holder will be responsible for managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Duties
1. Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained.
2. Manage food production processes, including preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes.
3. Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment that encourages professional development.
4. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and always maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
5. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
6. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
7. Assist in budgeting and cost control measures to maximize profitability without compromising quality.
Skills
1. Strong background in hospitality with a focus on fine dining/Michelin standard.
2. Proven experience in team management and leadership within a kitchen environment.
3. Excellent culinary skills with a passion for food production and innovation.
4. Ability to supervise staff effectively, providing guidance and support as needed.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the kitchen.
6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
7. Effective communication skills to liaise with both kitchen and front-of-house teams.
8. A proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly.
Hours of work are x4 10hr shifts per week; however, some flexibility may be required.
Key Information and Benefits
£20.00 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications.
