A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SOUS CHEF AT THE WESTIN LONDON CITY What you'll be doing Reporting to the Head Chef, you can expect your working day to include the following. Assisting the Head Chef in managing the daily kitchen operations Supervising and coordinating all activities of the kitchen team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherance to recipes and standards Oversee food preparation, cooking and presentation to maintain the highest quality standards Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygeine regulations Collaborate with the Head Chef in creating and updating menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends Develop and test new recipes, ensuring they meet the hotel's standards for taste, presentation and cost Provide input on menu pricing and portion control Train, mentor and motivate kitchen team members, fostering a positive and professional work environment Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback Assist in recruiting and onboarding of new team members Assist in budgeting and controlling food costs Oversee ordering of supplies WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU We hire mostly on personality & potential but here are a few of our requirements To succeed in the role of Sous Chef, you will need the following qualities and skills: Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a luxury hotel or fine dining establishment Culinary degree or equivalent professional training Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Exceptional organisational and time-management abilities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and kitchen management software.
