We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our team and play a key role in building and maintaining our data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with a focus on BigQuery to unlock insights about the coolest cities in the world in combination with our food hall market business.

Responsibilities
1. Technical responsibilities of all stages of the software development life cycle.
2. Applied teams based standards for programming tools and techniques and advise on their application.
3. Design, build, and deploy data pipelines on GCP, so data flows seamlessly from databases, cloud storage, and streaming services into BigQuery.
4. Craft and optimize data models that make storing, retrieving, and analyzing data in BigQuery effective.
5. Leverage BigQuery's built-in features to transform and summarize data.
6. Develop automated checks to ensure data consistency.
7. Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, and other data enthusiasts to design solutions.
8. Conduct code reviews and refine data pipelines for peak performance.
Skills and Experience
We're looking for someone who:
1. Has 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role.
2. Understands the fundamentals of data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.
3. Experience with SQL and BigQuery Standard SQL.
4. Proficient in gathering and understanding requirements to lead deliverable outcomes.
5. Experience in cloud computing concepts and GCP services, especially BigQuery and Cloud Composer.
6. Proficient in scripting languages like Python.
7. Helps create a collaborative environment and communicates clearly.
8. Has a passion for data and a hunger to learn new tech.
9. Mentors and coaches junior members of staff.
10. Experience with data governance and security best practices.
11. Experience with cloud-based workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dataflow).
12. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau).
