We currently have a Senior Data Engineer position available for a motivated individual to join our team in South West region. Joining us on a full-time basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
About the role
To support the wider Data & Modelling team which includes data scientists, application developers and hydraulic modellers with high quality and complete data. You’ll be working with large datasets from thousands of sensors and assets which monitor and control clean and waste water operations. There is also the opportunity to work alongside our research partners at the University of Exeter within the newly established Centre for Resilience Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) and tackle some of the big questions faced by the Water Industry such as reaching zero leakage and achieving zero uncontrolled discharges from sewers.
What you’ll be doing:
* The creation/maintenance of new/existing data pipelines and databases for key ODI/EPA measures - storm overflows, FFT, leakage and supply interruptions.
* Support the implementation of digital registration standards for sensor and asset information for MCERTs, EDM, Flow, and Leakage.
* Establishing a single source of information for operational reporting and access (data lake)
* Providing high quality and complete data on request and via self-serve tool and APIs to data scientists, developers, asset and performance managers, hydraulic modellers, and our strategic partners.
* Maintaining legacy systems which are used to access or report information such as the Asset Data Portal.
* Managing and updating key datasets such as DMA and PMA polygons.
What we are looking for:
* A computer science, mathematics, geographic or data science and analytics background
* Data transformation/integration engines such as SSIS
* Highly competent in python and SQL and familiar with working with a range of relational databases.
* Working within an agile cross-functional team and delivering to deadlines
* Competent with GIS software such as QGIS and ArcGIS
* Experience in the water industry or similar industry and familiar with regulatory frameworks
