Our prestigious client situated on Princes Street is currently seeking a Temporary Junior Sous Chef on an ongoing basis.
Pay rate of £16.72 per hour.
The Junior Sous Chef assists the Head Chef and Sous Chef in achieving the highest standards of food production and customer satisfaction, contributing to the achievement of Gross Profit targets, maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, working effectively with colleagues, and providing effective internal service.
Requirements
1. Proven experience as a Junior Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen (or a Chef De Partie looking to further career prospects).
2. Strong communication skills.
3. Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques.
4. Experience in fine dining.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
6. Manage food safety and sanitation regulations.
7. Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious dishes.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the day-to-day running of any given section.
2. Ensure consistency of food quality and presentation.
3. Attend briefings for special functions if required.
4. Maintain the cleanliness, stock control, organisation, and standards of the section.
5. Assist with daily ordering, while keeping in mind stock usage, menu planning, and business levels.
6. Train Chefs on the section and delegate tasks to Chefs.
7. Constantly advise Chef on needs and ordering requirements.
8. Assist other Chef de Parties and help maintain motivation and focus.
9. Participate in required training.
10. Take control of tasks and maintain high team spirit.
11. Keep recipe folders in good order and up to date.
12. Help prevent food waste and over-production.
13. Minimise the consumption of gas, electricity, and water.
14. Ensure good staff communications and relations.
Must be flexible with work schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Duration of the shifts: 10 hours (38 hrs per week).
