Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Reports To: Director of Asset Management (UK)

The renewable energy market has grown rapidly in the last 10 years and is forecast to grow even faster in the next decade. BSL is committed to a program of digitalization and continuous improvement in order to provide the best services to clients.
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Data Engineer to be at the center of our internal data team. You will work closely with our senior technical project manager, reporting and analysis manager, the asset management team, and the other data engineer. BSL is looking for a highly experienced Data Engineer to maintain and improve an existing in-house software and support data systems and processes.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
2. 10+ years' experience of developing using Python and industry-standard Python frameworks
3. Experience in developing user interfaces
4. Experience in developing APIs
5. ETL pipelines using concurrency
6. Highly experienced with cloud environments, especially AWS
7. Experience in accessibility and security compliance
Additional technologies experience is required in:
• AWS (including technologies such as ECS, Route 53, S3, EC2, RDS, Cognito, Cloudwatch, EFS, Aurora, Athena, RedShift) or similar services on other cloud platforms
• Flask, Django, or other similar web frameworks for Python
• Linux
• SQLAlchemy or other similar Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) libraries for Python
• Pulumi, Terraform, or similar infrastructure as code tools
• Front-end technologies including HTML and CSS
• PostgreSQL or other relational database engines
Purpose of the Senior Data Engineer:
As a Senior Data Engineer in Bluefield Services, you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of Bluefield's in-house data systems and products in line with the roadmap and business priorities, empowering and collaborating with, and being a key member of, the data team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Quickly gain an in-depth understanding of the system through conversations with the data team and reading code and documentation.
2. Maintenance and improvement of in-house data systems.
3. AWS infrastructure used for in-house data systems.
4. Support and guidance to the team with advanced experience in data engineering technologies and best practices.
5. Create & Maintain Databases & other forms of data storage that the system depends on.
6. Work with key stakeholders to further improve and develop the software platform.
7. Create & Manage data integrity and flow from multiple data sources into a data warehouse.
8. Work as lead developer to plan and execute the development strategy.
9. Look for other areas of integration and automation.
10. Support other teams in understanding and engaging with the system and developing UIs for these interactions.
11. Identify areas to automate information flows in the wider business and help deliver these projects.
12. Maintain data security and confidentiality by using information within the parameters of the job role, any applicable SLAs, the company data policies, and/or privacy notices, and the statutory guidelines set out within the GDPR and any associated UK legislation, particularly data generated by CCTV or that may be classified as personal data.
13. Comply with all required fire, health, and safety requirements for the environment in which you are working, including making yourself aware of the current applicable policies and risk assessments and acting accordingly, and attending any required training.
14. Any other reasonable task as requested by a Manager, Partner, or Director of the business.
Interactions within the Bluefield Group:
1. Communicate information as required within the team.
2. Attend team meetings, company meetings, handover meetings, and appraisals as required.
Job Location: Bristol Central. Minimum 3 days in office. Hybrid working available.
Hours of Work: 37 ½ hours per week, Monday to Friday 9:00 am until 5:30 pm. Flexible working is available.
