As a dynamic and experienced Project Manager (Training Assets & Equipment) no two days will be the same. Working with regional delivery teams, sponsors, and the supply chain; you will be responsible for leading the safe delivery of projects related to our equipment and assets. Your leadership will ensure the achievement of cost, time and quality objectives with our corporate guidelines., Accountable for the delivery of Network Rail trainings equipment and asset renewals and enhancement projects safely to time, cost, and quality, in accordance with the Project Accelerated in a Controlled Environments (PACE), applicable Railway Group, Network Rail company standards and other specific legislation including construction design management (CDM) Regulations.
Produce business cases and investment plans for all projects in accordance with Investment Regulations. Support the Sponsor in preparing and maintaining definitions of the project requirements.
Provide a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management service to Network Rail training nationally, including project monitoring and reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group, Network Rail company standards and guidelines.
Establish and manage collaborative, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary project delivery teams across Network Rail training and the supply chain to identify solutions implement solutions to client requirements throughout the project life cycle (PACE).
Participate in the development of strategies and framework contracts within Network Rail Training to comply with future capability, such as digital twin, virtual and distance learning.
Provide detailed input for compilation of the Network Rail training services business plan and production of programme / project plans.
Control project change, risks and contingency within the project life cycle and provide all cost, contingency, and programme details by establishing and implementing as required, Change Control Protocols to enable the Sponsor obtain authorisation for portfolios/projects.
Provide a safe working environment in the execution of work directly under the post holders responsibility, including development of project safety plans and other associated documentation
Discharge Network Rails CDM related duties as required by company process.
Manage and update business cases that justify projects in terms of benefits, costs, and risks.
Essential
Proven experience in project management, preferably within infrastructure, training, or asset management sectors.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to ensuring compliance.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
Experience in managing budgets and delivering projects within set parameters., Formal Project Management qualifications (e.g., APMP Certified Project Manager, Prince 2)
Successful relevant experience in a complex project environment including demonstrable experience in team management, planning, contracting and delivery of projects.
Successful record of project budget management and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Detailed knowledge of safety regulations (particularly CDM) in the training environment
Membership of the Association for Project Management or other professional body
Experience in managing ambiguity in a project environment with strong evaluation and decision- making skills.
Demonstrable Project safety management practice and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
Desirable
Demonstrable experience in the Rail Industry Sector (including application of GRIP, Construction
Design Management (CDM) and the Common Safety Method (CSM).
Detailed Knowledge of Network Rails Investment, Commercial and Procurement regulations, and practices.
Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail training projects and contract management.
Formal qualifications in risk identification and assessment.
