Job Title: Learning & Development Manager Reports To: Head of People Location: Hybrid/Birmingham Hub (3 days per week in the hub) Team: People Team Travel: Occasional travel (this will be minimised with technology use) We provide roughly 9,000 fantastic student homes in around 90 buildings across the UK to enable students (UK and International) to really make the most of their time at University. Role Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Learning & Development (L&D) Manager to join our People Team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the company’s learning and development initiatives, ensuring all employees are equipped to perform their roles safely, effectively, and in line with company expectations. You’ll drive personal and professional development across the organisation, with a key focus on leadership development, creating innovative ways to share and embed learning throughout the business. Key Responsibilities: Learning Content Development: Create a dynamic and blended learning library leveraging technology, coaching, and train-the-trainer approaches. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and external partners to design and deliver effective, engaging, and easily understood learning content. Manage and enhance the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring role-relevant, engaging content is available to all employees. Leadership Development: Focus on enhancing leadership skills across the organisation, working closely with key stakeholders to identify learning and development needs. Design, create, and deliver training programs that support leadership growth and business objectives. Training & Program Delivery: Develop and deliver impactful training programs for key initiatives, ensuring content is tailored to business and personal growth strategies. Lead or co-deliver training sessions alongside SMEs to support knowledge development and essential skills. Partner with external providers or source external resources to support internal learning initiatives. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with SMEs to review and evolve the current learning offerings, refining delivery methods and timing for maximum impact. Develop an annual training plan and calendar that aligns with evolving business needs, remaining flexible to respond to changes. Learning Culture & Development: Champion and promote a culture of continuous development across the company. Build out personal and career development programs, utilising the apprenticeship levy to incorporate industry-recognised qualifications. Performance & Talent Management: Work with the wider People Team to revamp performance and talent management processes to build high-performing teams. Oversee the L&D budget, ensuring effective allocation for external training and development needs. Preferred Skills and Experience: Proven experience in an L&D role, preferably in a multisite or operational environment. Strong background in leadership development, coaching, and management training. Experience in designing and delivering both digital and in-person training. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in using learning management systems and e-learning platforms. An inquisitive mind with a passion for continuous improvement. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Creative and innovative in designing engaging and effective learning initiatives. Collaborative and engaging style with a focus on supporting and working with others.
