The Boathouse is a 200 cover multi purpose banqueting suite situated in the beautiful grounds of Danson Park in Bexleyheath, South London.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead a small kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be a HANDS ON chef that has a strong background in high-volume banqueting and event catering, with the ability to create exceptional dishes that impress our clients. This role requires a creative culinary leader who can manage kitchen operations, maintain high standards of food quality, and ensure a positive dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
**Culinary Leadership:**
* Develop and execute innovative menus for various events, including weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
* Get involved in the preparation and presentation of all food items, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.
**Kitchen Management:**
* Manage daily kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, inventory management, and food safety compliance.
* Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance.
**Budgeting and Cost Control:**
* Monitor food costs and labor expenses to ensure profitability while maintaining quality standards.
* Implement strategies to minimise waste and maximise efficiency in the kitchen.
**Quality Assurance:**
* Ensure that all food served meets the highest quality standards and is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations.
* Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and facilities to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
**Menu Development:**
* Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate seasonal ingredients into menu offerings.
* Experiment with new recipes and techniques to enhance the culinary experience.
**Qualifications:**
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or Kitchen Manager in a banqueting or high-volume catering environment.
* Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience.
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
