We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef or strong Second Chef to join a specialist conference venue. The role involves preparing high-quality meals for a variety of guests, with a strong emphasis on traditional, wholesome cooking and freshly baked items.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist the Head Chef/Catering Manager in day-to-day kitchen operations.
*Prepare a variety of high-quality meals for both individual guests and larger groups
*Basic pastry & bread making
*Adapt dishes for dietary needs and allergens.
*Uphold the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness across kitchen and food storage areas.
*Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and internal procedures.
Hours:
*37.5 per week
*5/7 days per week
*11am - 7pm
*You may be required to work outside of these hours depending on the function.
Ideal Sous Chef/Second Chef Requirements
*Ideally 3-5 years of professional kitchen experience in a similar busy setting
*Pastry & bread making experience is essential
*Strong background in traditional cooking and baking from scratch for large groups/bulk cookery
*Catering qualifications preferred
* Confident using basic computer programs (e.g. for writing menus and allergen tracking).
*Flexible and calm under pressure, with a team-spirited and helpful approach.
*Able to work some early mornings, late evenings and weekends based on operational needs.

*Candidates must have good communication skills and be able to work independently.
*Occasional travel to other local sites may be required.
*A supportive and warm working environment, with ongoing training available.
