Salary: Grade D - £25,992 - £27,711 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)

Orchard Vale Community School is a successful and friendly school that provides exciting and rewarding learning opportunities for its pupils.
We require a highly motivated Kitchen Manager to start as soon as all checks are complete, who is a talented individual, has great cooking skills along with a passion for preparing fresh food from scratch for the children and staff and who will work closely with our school team. We employ our own catering staff to provide in house catering. We have a large, well-equipped kitchen and a friendly team and an experienced Academy catering lead.
Job Purpose:
* To lead in the cooking and serving of food to pupils and staff within the school catering service to maximise the quality and efficiency of the service, always providing top quality fresh food cooked and presented to a high standard.
* To have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen
Successful candidates will:
* Comply with all aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Etc Act 1974, the food safety Act 2006, the food safety and hygiene regulations 2013 and all other relevant legislation
* Provide daily provision of a catering service to the standard required, for customers at the school
* Be aware of and comply with all procedures set down in the site operation(s) manuals
* Work within the establishment’s budget for food, sundries and labour
* Produce healthy, nutritionally balanced, well presented, tasty meals
* Promote and encourage healthy food choices
* Always provide excellent customer service
* Ensure high levels of cleanliness and daily cleaning of equipment and kitchen
* Ensure setting up and clearing of the dining hall and dining furniture
* Check all special dietary requirements (allergens) including those of a religious nature or lifestyle choice.
The nature of this role requires carrying heavy equipment and the employee regularly being on their feet. Due to the physical demands of the role, must have full flexibility/agility. You will receive a full induction and appropriate training. You will need to have some experience of working in a large kitchen, preferably in a school context.

This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, 8.00am to 14.00pm Monday to Friday.
