Job description We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our family business in our busy farm shop restaurant, operating 7 days a week days only. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, farm-to-table kitchen environment. You will assist the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, seasonal dishes using locally sourced produce, ensuring smooth kitchen operations, and maintaining high food safety standards. A chef that is as comfortable on the stove as well as on the pass An innovative individual who has a strong understanding of food trends You will have previous experience managing a team and the support of running a busy kitchen Key Responsibilities : - Assist the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen, ensuring efficiency and quality service. Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and training where needed. Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards, in line with our farm-to-table ethos. Take charge of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef. Read and manage incoming tickets efficiently, ensuring smooth service during busy periods. Run the pass effectively, coordinating with front-of-house and kitchen teams to maintain food quality and presentation. Monitor stock levels, oversee ordering, and minimise food waste. Maintain impeccable hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards (in line with HACCP regulations). Work with the Head Chef to develop new seasonal menus and specials using fresh, local ingredients. Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and in good working order. Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a high-pressure environment. Qualifications : - Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen role in a high-volume restaurant or similar setting. Strong knowledge of seasonal, fresh ingredients and farm-to-table cooking. Ability to lead and inspire a team while working under pressure. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Strong understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices. A passion for quality, sustainability, and local produce. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as part of a rotating schedule. AMRT1_UKCT
