1. Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture that supports
the Charity's purpose of Making Life Better and i-care values to increase
morale, productivity and performance
2. Develop, promote and implement an effective records management system to
enable Highland Council and High Life Highland (HLH) to manage their records
efficiently
3. Develop and maintain a Records Management Plan which is compliant with the
Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011
4. To collaborate with the Highland Council and the area archivists in the
development of the Highland Council's Hub and Spokes Strategy for Archives
and Records, with particular emphasis on the development of the Records
Management Service
5. Proactively identify and monitor legislative, policy and best practice
developments and trends which may impact on the Council or HLH, and initiate
strategies to respond to them
6. To develop and disseminate good practice in Records Management across the
Council and HLH by the provision of guidance and training for staff at all levels
in all services
7. To lead in the development of corporate retention schedules based on the
model produced by the Scottish Council for Archives
8. To manage the Records Centre in the Highland Archive Centre
9. To sit on the Information Governance Board (IGB) which oversees the
management of the Council's Information Management Strategy and the
implementation of this across the Council
10. To develop and maintain the Highland Council's Information Asset Register
11. To undertake surveys of Council records
12. To liaise with the Highland Archivist in the appraisal of records of the Council
and its predecessors deemed worthy of permanent preservation
13. To line manage other Records Management staff based at the Highland
Archive Centre, and to support their training needs and CPD
14. To ensure the implementation of appropriate Health and Safety measures
particularly within the Records Centre
