Job description: Assisting in Menu Creation and Development Work closely with the Head Chef to create, modify, and refine the menu, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer feedback. Contribute ideas for new dishes and specials that align with the gastro pub's concept and brand. Kitchen Operations and Supervision Assist in overseeing the kitchen's daily operations, ensuring that food preparation and service meet high standards of quality, consistency, and efficiency. Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members are following proper cooking procedures and safety guidelines. Step into the Head Chef’s role in their absence, managing kitchen operations and maintaining standards. Staff Training and Development Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, including line cooks and kitchen assistants, helping them develop their culinary skills and work efficiently. Provide constructive feedback and encourage a positive, productive team environment. Ensure that all team members are well-versed in food safety, hygiene, and operational procedures. Food Preparation and Cooking Prepare, cook, and plate dishes in accordance with the restaurant's standards. Ensure that each dish is prepared with precision, consistency, and attention to detail. Assist with high-volume service, particularly during peak hours. Inventory and Stock Control Assist in managing food inventory, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored. Help monitor stock levels, place orders when necessary, and assist in the receiving of deliveries. Ensure minimal waste by adhering to portion control and efficient food preparation practices. Quality Control and Consistency Maintain quality control standards, ensuring that every dish leaving the kitchen is of the highest quality and meets the gastro pub's expectations for presentation and flavor. Monitor kitchen operations for consistency, identifying and resolving issues as they arise. Health, Safety, and Cleanliness Uphold cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with all food safety and health regulations. Help implement and maintain hygiene standards across all areas of the kitchen. Lead by example in maintaining safe working conditions and practices for all kitchen staff. Collaboration and Communication Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and a positive customer experience.
