You’ll oversee day-to-day kitchen activities, mentor team members, maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation, and bring creative ideas to our ever-evolving menu. Key Responsibilities Kitchen Operations Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing all kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and consistency. Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain quality and consistency across dishes. Ensure all dishes meet Social Bird’s standards for taste, quality, and presentation. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to achieve high performance and professionalism. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the kitchen. Manage staff schedules and delegate tasks effectively to meet service demands. Menu Development Collaborate with the Head Chef to create and refine menu items, focusing on Social Bird’s unique approach to chicken-inspired cuisine. Contribute innovative ideas for specials, seasonal menus, and catering events. Quality Control & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations. Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and minimise waste. Maintain accurate records of kitchen activities, including food costs and staff performance. Qualifications & Skills Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a professional kitchen, with at least 1 year in a leadership role (Sous Chef or equivalent). Experience in high-volume or concept-driven restaurants is a plus. Education: Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred. Skills: Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Knowledge: Expertise in food preparation, menu development, and modern culinary trends. Knowledge of poultry and chicken-focused cuisine is a significant advantage.
