As a Senior Data Mesh Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of our data mesh architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define and roll out the data mesh strategy, establishing the core components, standards, and governance model. In this pivotal role, you will drive the adoption of the data mesh principles and enable self-service analytics across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Define the overall data mesh architecture, including the data domain model, integration patterns, and self-serve capabilities.
2. Establish the data mesh governance framework and operating model, outlining roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes.
3. Develop standards and guidelines for data domains, APIs, and self-service tools to ensure consistency and scalability.
4. Build and deploy the core data mesh infrastructure, including domain-oriented data stores, inter-domain APIs, and self-service analytics tooling.
5. Work closely with domain teams to onboard new data sources and enable self-service access and exploration.
6. Implement robust security, monitoring, and observability capabilities to ensure the reliability and trustworthiness of the data mesh.
7. Mentor and guide cross-functional teams on data mesh principles, best practices, and tooling.
8. Continuously optimize the data mesh based on feedback and evolving business requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 7+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or a related field.
2. Deep understanding of data mesh principles, including domain-driven design, data ownership, and self-service.
3. Expertise in building scalable, resilient, and secure data platforms using modern technologies (e.g., cloud-native data stores, streaming, ETL/ELT).
4. Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or other relevant languages, with experience in building robust, maintainable, and testable code.
5. Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality practices.
6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
7. Experience in leading and mentoring cross-functional teams, driving adoption of new technologies and processes.
