The Role: Morgan IT is responsible for running the digital transformation for Morgan, implementing a target IT architecture (consisting of several global platforms), that will underpin and future proof the technical landscape supporting Business operations stability and enabling business growth. The importance of the data as part of this journey has been recognised and is being addressed through the implementation of a Global Data Platform. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure Data Engineer to join our dynamic Global Data & Analytics Platform team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering scalable data solutions on the Azure cloud platform. This role demands proficiency in programming, data modelling, and data pipeline orchestration, as well having a good understating of Azure-specific tools and technologies. Strong soft skills are also essential to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities : Role Description: Data Pipeline Design & Development : Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics/Azure Data Factory and other Azure services to process and transform large datasets. Azure Synapse Analytics : Design and optimize data models and queries within Azure Synapse Analytics to support high-performance analytics and reporting solutions. Data Warehousing & ETL : Develop and optimize ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into Azure Data Lakes and Azure Synapse Analytics for reporting and analytics purposes. Azure Data Lakes : Implement and manage Azure Data Lakes, ensuring data is organized, secure, and readily accessible for downstream analytics and machine learning models. Data Modelling : Develop and maintain complex data models, including star schema, snowflake schema, and normalized structures, to meet the needs of the business. Performance Tuning : Optimize the performance of data processing workflows, queries, and databases to meet SLAs and enhance system efficiency. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting : Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to data pipelines, ETL processes, and cloud infrastructure in a timely manner. Continuous Improvement : Stay updated with the latest advancements in Azure services, data engineering practices, and big data technologies. Propose and implement improvements to existing data architectures and processes Programming & Scripting : Write efficient and robust code in Python, SQL, and Scala to automate data processing tasks, develop custom data processing solutions, and ensure data quality. Big Data Technologies : Utilize big data frameworks like Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) on Azure to process and analyse large volumes of data in distributed computing environments. Data Governance & Security : Implement best practices for data governance, including data lineage, metadata management, and security, to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance. Collaboration & Communication : Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Your background; Bachelor or Master degree in a related field of study 3 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on Azure cloud services across a mixture of Enterprise and SME environments Proficiency in Python, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lakes, and big data technologies like Apache Spark Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in an Azure environment is a plus. Certification in Azure (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and a keen attention to detail.
