Full of history and stories, our client is a unique food-led pub, on the South Devon coast. With contrasting levels of business, you can find yourself serving 10 covers per day in the winter months to serving 150/200+ covers per service during the height of summer, with a huge trade from the beach below them!
Working as part of a small kitchen team, the pub offers a high quality yet simple menu made using fresh, seasonal ingredients and is open for both lunch and dinner service. The team here have a real passion to serve the best, high-quality food around and they are looking for like-minded individuals to offer the same level of service.
Whilst accommodation is available, please note that their location is extremely rural with no public transport links nearby, therefore, this role may be best suited to someone with their own transport.
What's involved?
Assisting the Head Chef with all aspects of the kitchen operation, including cleaning and washing up where necessary, the Sous Chef will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. You will also run the kitchen and lead the team in the Head Chef's absence.
Working with the Head Chef, you will keep control of food costs, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and follow the rules of Health and Safety at all times.
As an experienced and organised chef, you will be used to working in a fast paced environment as during the summer months, you can expect to cater for 150/200 covers per service!
Due to their location, it is quite a seasonal place so you can expect to cater for very few during the winter months however in the summertime, you will be rushed off your feet as you cater for those eating in the pub as well as offering a takeaway service to those on the beach. With this in mind, the Sous Chef must be an experienced chef and an organised person.
