We have a fantastic opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our team working in the brand-new pub based at St. Mary’s Stadium, The Dell. A one-of-a-kind pub with a nod to our heritage.
What is the role?
You will assist the Head Chef in overseeing food preparation and managing kitchen staff to ensure high-quality meals are prepared efficiently. You will be required to maintain cleanliness and order of kitchen facilities, adhere to established menus and recipes, and monitor food inventory and storage. You may also collaborate with other departments for special events.
What will you be doing?
1. Supporting the Head Chef in all aspects of food creation.
2. Overseeing food creation and cooking procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.
3. Supporting and supervising the kitchen team, scheduling work rotations among them and ensuring their training and menu development.
4. Monitoring food inventory and ordering to ensure proper stock levels.
5. Adhering to established menus and recipes while making suggestions for improvement.
6. Collaborating with other departments regarding special events.
7. Assisting in developing and implementing new menu items and promotions.
8. Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
9. Contributing to creating a positive and professional environment within the team.
Is this you?
Qualifications
1. Culinary degree or equivalent experience required.
2. Food Safety L2 or L3.
3. Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a similar establishment or a current Chef de Partie ready for the next step in their career.
4. Strong understanding of kitchen operations and management.
5. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
6. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
7. Knowledge of dietary restrictions.
