Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team in Chippenham, United Kingdom. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes whilst maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.
* Prepare fresh ingredients, including raw fish and other seafood, for sushi production
* Create a variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi with precision and creativity
* Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed at all times
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely food preparation
* Assist in menu development and suggest new sushi creations
* Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels of sushi ingredients and supplies
* Provide excellent customer service, including answering queries about menu items and ingredients
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques
* Adapt to changing customer demands and seasonal menu changes
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role
* In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques
* Excellent knife skills and ability to create visually appealing food presentations
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings and weekends
* Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when required
* Enthusiasm and passion for creating high-quality sushi dishes
* Ability to multitask efficiently whilst maintaining a calm demeanour
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and menu items
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
* Customer-focused attitude with a friendly and professional demeanour
* Reliable transportation for commuting to work
* Food hygiene certification (desirable)
* Fluency in English; knowledge of Japanese language is a plus
