The Charity is a leading maritime charity in lifelong learning and personal development and is the governing charity of another Charity, a civilian voluntary youth organisation engaging some 15,000 young people over 400 Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The Charity that it governs offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective - to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.
The Role:
We are currently seeking to appoint a Training Manager (TM) at Northwest Area Office to work closely with the National Support Centre based Sea Cadet Learning Team, for the quality assurance, delivery and content of cadet and adult training programmes (to include all charity funded activities, events and competitions).
This exciting role will play a key part in the delivery the 'Cadet experience', quality youth development and training opportunities.
This is a multi-faceted and challenging role, which is vital in improving Cadet retention.
The successful candidate is likely to have experience from a similar training managerial background within the third sector, or will have commercial, educational or military experience which is directly transferable to this role.
Regardless of background, the individual will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively with volunteers and will preferably have experience or knowledge of the youth or community sector. Candidates will also need strong interpersonal and project management skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders. A flexible approach to work and working patterns is also necessary.
Key areas will focus on:
- The Safe delivery & quality assurance of training across the Northwest Area.
- Delivery of area activity, camps, events and competitions.
- Line Management of some senior volunteer roles.
- Using the Sea Cadet Syllabus as the vehicle to inspire the highest quality Youth Development.

Requirements:
Knowledge and experience of Youth Development and current youth development policies
Experience of Quality Assurance and delivery of training
Have experience of managing a team and working as part of a team
Experience of working for an education or youth development organisation and managing the delivery of training with youth development as the focus
