The post will be integrated into the elective and emergency workload of the department. The successful candidates will work alongside the FY1/2, nurse practitioners, and Middle Grade and Consultant teams covering elective and emergencies in the surgical department.
Successful candidates will have full support from their teams and supervisors so they can gain the appropriate experience and knowledge in elective and emergency surgery and progress into the next step of their careers. This will include access to clinics, theatre, on calls and ward rounds in both elective and emergency settings. The full educational programme will be discussed and adjusted at the beginning of the placement to meet the post takers’ training needs. Educational supervision will be available and study leave provided to support the development of your career.

Experience
Essential criteria
1. Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
2. Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
3. A minimum of one years’ post FY1 experience, ideally as an SHO/FY2 in a surgical specialty
Desirable criteria
4. Evidence of involvement in audit & research projects
Qualifications and Training

5. MB BS or equivalent

6. Additional Postgraduate qualification
7. MRCP
