Job Description
To be responsible for delivering a range of housing and property repairs and contracts as directed by the Electrical Coordinator. To ensure that all works are delivered to the agreed specification and within target, and help deploy resources in an efficient and effective manner.
Responsibilities
1. To sign off all electrical certification consistent with NICEIC / Select, Qualified Supervisor responsibilities. Carry out onsite audits to ensure all aspects of council electrical works are compliant with all relevant regulatory bodies.
2. To be responsible for the onsite leadership and guidance of electrical teams and ensure that resources are deployed in an efficient and cost effective manner.
3. To be responsible for continuous improvement and to know where performance is strong and highlight any areas for development and challenge. Address any areas of poor performance.
4. To ensure that electrical staff provide a strong focus on customer care in accordance with Council policy and ensure that staff place customers at the fore and aim to consider their needs in service delivery.
5. To support the Electrical Coordinator to develop and implement Building Services health and safety policy, absence management, procedures, practices to ensure the continued health, safety and welfare of all employees within Building Services.
6. To assist the Electrical Coordinator in ensuring that buildings, vehicles and plant under the control of the plumbing/heating team are effectively managed.
7. To undertake training as required and to train and develop staff.
The Individual
1. Time Served Approved Electrician with full working knowledge of domestic electrical installations.
2. Previous experience in a supervisory capacity of electrical construction/maintenance operatives.
3. NICEIC/SELECT quality supervisory experience.
4. Relevant electrical related (trade) qualification to minimum SVQ Level 3 (or ability to demonstrate equivalent).
5. 18th Edition Regulations.
6. Current SJIB Grading Card.
7. Full driving licence.
8. Ability to organise and prioritise own/others workload.
9. Good organisational/planning skills.
10. Good working knowledge of a variety of building trades.
11. Microsoft Office experience.
12. Sound working knowledge of 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
13. Keep up to date with current and future regulations pertaining to all aspects of electrical and council legislation.
14. You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
15. To have sound judgement and work under own initiative.
16. Ability to work to tight deadlines.
17. Good communication skills (written and oral).
18. Proven track record.
19. Ability to provide effective leadership within a customer focused environment.
20. Ability to work on site within a construction environment.
21. Able to work under pressure to balance competing demands and sustain outputs.
22. Ability to manually lift goods not exceeding 15 Kg in weight.
