Job purpose: The key purpose of this role is to clean down, assemble, and repair our range of industrial gearbox units and Geared Motor Units. Responsibilities: To assemble the company’s products, to standards defined by the parent company. Flexibility of working hours will be required, depending on daily working schedules. Meet deadlines. To test finished goods. Assist in the stores, picking and packing of stock. Materials and Equipment The safe use of hand-tools, pneumatic equipment and lifting equipment. To avoid damage to person and finished goods. Safe working practice must be maintenance to avoid the above. Damage and loss of production could occur if product is not lifted or transported in a safe manner. Skill and Knowledge Time served Engineering background. Knowledge of industrial gearbox and geared motor assembly. Be able to work in a team environment. For Lift Truck Licence Holders – (Counterbalance ) would be preferred. Lifting and Slinging experience. Abrasive materials understanding. Paint and solvents experience. HSE knowledge within the factory environment. Basic electrical understanding. Complexity The employee may be assigned to other tasks in accordance with his/her professional skills and abilities. Essential Knowledge Assembly Fitter has basic understanding of electricity. Assembly Fitter has knowledge of lifting capacity of fork truck. Assembly Fitter has knowledge of lifting capacity of swinging and lifting equipment. Assembly Fitter has knowledge of safety procedures within spray booth environment. Assembly Fitter has knowledge of Industrial Gearbox and geared motor assembly. Mental Demands Information Handling Reading list and labels in store area. Reading bills of materials. Recording information as required on job sheets. Reading and understanding industrial engineering drawings. Concentration/Sensory Attention Continuous visual monitoring during the assembly of the product to maintain a quality product. Physical Demands Physical Effort Kneeling and standing on the floor to assemble the products. Pushing, pulling and reaching when transporting parts and finished products. 80% of working time is spent in physical activity. Dexterity/Co-ordination Dexterity needed when assembling products. Co-ordination of limbs and visual attention when manoeuvring product and fork truck.
