The salary range for this role is £30,000 to £35,000 per annum based on a 35 hour working week.
About the Organisation
Learning Space is a charity providing emotional well-being and mental health support to children, young people and their families. Learning Space is a growing team with three bases in Redhill, Tadworth and Guildford. We are a charitable organisation which aims to improve the lives of children, young people and their families.
Since 1997 we have offered 1:1 and group support for a range of emotional needs including low self-esteem, anxiety, anger, relationships, bereavement, bullying and neurodevelopmental needs. Our methodology is solution-focused and our approach is to encourage children and young people to recognise and build on their existing strengths.
Since April 2021 we have been delivering a range of Surrey Mindworks emotional and wellbeing services to children, young people and families. This role is predominantly based in one of our centres in Guildford, Tadworth and Redhill. We do also work out of schools and community centres. In this role you will work closely with our partners from the Mindworks Alliance.
About the Role
The post holder will work as part of the Learning Space team providing 1:1 and group interventions for children, young people, and families. The post holder will play a crucial role in supporting children and young people to promote their mental health. The focus will be on providing evidence-based interventions to improve emotional health and build resilience. Post holders will also work systemically, closely with families and schools to maximise outcomes for children and young people.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for their own caseload of children, young people and families, some with complex and multiple needs. They will assess the needs and strengths of the referred young person and help them identify individual goals to achieve desired change. Maintaining the close involvement of families and schools is an important feature of the role. The role may also include delivering workshops to parents and professionals.

Applicants must have:
* A degree in a relevant discipline.
* A professional qualification gained in education, social care, youth work, counselling, or health care setting.
* Knowledge of the wider social impact of "at risk of negative outcomes" on young people, their parents, and their families.
* A minimum of two years' experience of working with children, young people, and their parents both 1:1 and in groups.
* Experience of working with young people and families with multiple and/or complex needs.
* Knowledge of emotional and mental health issues which affect children and young people including depression, anxiety, relationships, stress, anger management, self-image, and bullying.
* Knowledge of legislation around safeguarding, equality, diversity, and information sharing and consent.
