Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Maternity and Neonatal Staff Support FTC for 23 months, Band 8c 1wte (2 posts)
This position will promote the well-being of staff in Maternity, Neonatal and connected services. It requires an experienced Clinical Psychologist with a strong background in trauma-informed care and staff well-being. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping a supportive and resilient work environment within Maternity and Neonatal Services across the Trust.
The post-holders will maintain a strong physical presence within the relevant departments with a particular focus on areas where provision of psychological support for staff is most lacking and most needed. This will require building positive relationships with stakeholders, developing an understanding of the complex needs of the service and staff.
Maternity and Neonatal services at NUH have been under external review of both historic and prospective care. This has led to engagement with both media and legal systems. This is a unique situation that requires a skilled Consultant Clinical Psychologist to develop plans of care for universal, targeted and specialist support across the relevant staff populations. The post holders will be responsible for developing and delivering a psychological support system to staff working within maternity, neonatal and connected services that are impacted by the current reviews.
The post-holder will be based at both the QMC and City Hospital campuses.
Main duties of the job
1. Conduct a comprehensive systematic assessment of the psychological needs of the staff population.
2. Lead on the development of Clinical Psychology services to staff under external review in Maternity and Neonatal services, interpreting national guidelines and local policy as they apply to the multiple complex and systemic presentations.
3. Be co-responsible for long-term planning and strategy for the development of services to support staff impacted by external review in Maternity and Neonatal Care.
4. Be accountable for their own professional actions as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the service.
5. Provide supervision to Clinical Psychologists and other professional groups as appropriate/required.
6. Contribute to the training of staff as required.
7. Undertake personal R&D programmes and contribute to the organisation of R&D activities of Assistant/Trainee Psychologists on placement.
8. Participate in clinical governance for the Department of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology to ensure department-wide clinical governance compliance as agreed with Head of Service.
9. Have a regular physical presence for staff in the Maternity and related departments at both QMC and City campuses.
10. Assist as appropriate in the event of a Major Incident.

* Eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychology status and registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council
* Postgraduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
